trump-golfAmerican billionaire Donald Trump won approval to build a £1 billion golf resort on an unspoilt stretch of Scottish coastline, with the Scottish national government overruling local authorities to approve two golf courses, 500 homes and a 450-room hotel. The Daily Telegraph said the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds was “extremely disappointed” with the decision.

The Guardian quotes the Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond saying that “the economic and social benefits for the north-east of Scotland substantially outweigh any environmental impact, and that this is demonstrated in the evaluation of the three reporters to the public local inquiry”.
