Mike Saint, chief executive officer of The Saint Consulting Group, will give the keynote address on public views affecting recycling and waste to the Maryland-Delaware Solid Waste Association in Annapolis on January 25, 2013.

The founder of the nation’s largest land use political consultancy will talk about community viewpoints impacting the recycling and waste industry, looking at public perceptions through real data analysis.

The Saint Index has provided an annual narrative on public attitudes towards large-scale development, surveying Americans about all types of development across the country and gathering data on NIMBYism and reasons why voters oppose and support different types of local development since 2005.

Since 1983, Saint has specialized in mobilizing support for commercial real estate projects, overcoming community opposition & protecting market share. In the fourth quarter of 2005, The Saint Consulting Group conducted its first annual Saint Index, which for the first time ever quantified and tracked the politics of land use in the US. This survey spotlighted who actively opposed and supports real estate projects and why. It answered: Where is it most difficult to build today and why? How well is local government doing with planning and zoning? Which land uses experienced the most opposition and from whom?

The winter celebration of the Maryland-Delaware Solid Waste Association will be held at Historic Inns of Annapolis – Governor Calvert House, beginning at 7 pm for a cocktail reception and dinner at 8 pm.
