eminent-domain-abuseIt’s bad enough when you have to protect your property from eminent domain in your own town. Spare a thought for Bridget Tapkas in Fairview, N.J., who is battling efforts by Cliffside Park, a neighboring town, to take her property.

Aside from the sheer puzzlement the case arouses, her attorney, Anthony Delle Pelle points out, “If one town is allowed to take property in another without special circumstances, every town would try to put its unpopular uses, such as garbage dumps or jails, in neighboring towns.”

Thanks to Newsday for picking up the report from AP writer David Porter.
